Carvoeiro is a pretty fishing village with its own
beach just 45 minutes along the coast road west of Faro Airport and 3 hours south
of Lisbon . Still retaining the character and tradition of Portuguese life, the
local shops and mini-Mercado's sell most of the things you will need. There is
also a Bank, Bureau de Change, Pharmacy and 2 Doctors Clinics. Carvoeiro has
all the essentials for the perfect holiday.
The local market sells fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and locally caught fish.
There is also a good butcher and a baker in the village. The much larger town
of Portimao with its fishing harbour, numerous restaurants and many varied shops
is only 10 minutes drive away. A whole day can be spent there starting with breakfast
of freshly caught sardines grilled alfresco by the harbour side.
